Minnesota's New Paid Leave Program Starts Effective January 1, 2026
Starting January 1, 2026, Minnesota’s new Paid Leave Program will allow employees to take paid time off for major life events, including caring for a new child, recovering from a serious health condition, or supporting a family member. Employers must inform employees of their rights under this program by December 1, 2025, through both a workplace posting and individual written notice. The Paid Leave Notice must be displayed in a visible location. Additionally, Minnesota’s minimum wage will increase to $11.41 per hour, with a training wage of $9.31 per hour, effective the same date.
